Apparently, the Feeling Is [Washington] Mutual?

| | | | | | |

Turns out that I haven't been left to wallow alone in my WaMu customer service angst. Recently The Consumerist ran this piece about their experience with WaMu, and offered a rather glorious modification of the WaMu logo to boot.

Hmmm ... I wonder what more we'll discover?

WaMu...

...sucks harder than you can imagine.

I know, because I work for them.

WaMu's mission statement contains some drivel about "partnering with our communities." What a load of crap. If the bank's leadership was serious about "partnering with their communities," they wouldn't have gotten greedy and written 2 billion dollars worth of bad loans. THEY are the only ones to blame. They created more business than they could effectively manage, and instead of doing the right thing and scaling back home loans, they pushed forward and lended to people who had no business buying a home. And now they're getting BURNED.

I'm not worried about finding another job. I'm elated that WaMu is getting EXACTLY what it deserves. Further mirth can be found by observing our teflon-coated CEO. He's accepted little or no responsibility for what's going on. It's not his fault, it's the "worsening housing market and tightening credit standards." What a load of sh!t.

Wamu.....

What Anon forgot to mention is that it generally sucks to work here as well. I'm leaving for a competitor bank because I don't quite feel like I fit into this mega-bank mentality that Wamu has. When I started it seemed like they gave a shit about the employees and the customers... But of course that was durring the "good years" now it seems that only the shareholders matter.

Highly underpaid tellers, that slowly begin to not care about anything because they slowely realize they are overworked, understaffed and underpaid...

The Salary for Assistant Managers is LAUGHABLE...

I would be correct to call this place the WALMART of Banks. Low Prices, Questionable Service, and full of shit.

I certainly wouldn't want to work for Walmart either.....

Love the shirt.

i have been working at WaMu

i have been working at WaMu for 3 years now and i have to say that i couldnt ask for a better place to work. i started here as a highschool intern and now im a senior teller. they have tought me nothing but the best when it comes to customer service, how to treat a customer and have really structured me in to a well rounded young adult. WaMu is having some problems when it comes to our Mortgages but we have rebounded so well. WaMu is a great place to work and also a great place to bank.. i just have to say that no ones purfect. But Were trying to make it even better then what this company was before.. im only 18 and i know so much about the banking buisness, and to think that i would have gotten a normal job like flipping burgers at this age only goes to show that this place really is bennifical to me.. the housing market sucks right now. and im sure if any one was trying to sell there house right now u would loose so much money.. so come on people lets not play the blame game. were to old for that!

Whoo hoo for being laid off!!!

I've worked for WaMu for almost two years now. I started in the branch, and would love to hear where this naive, grammatically challenged 18 year old senior teller works. They must be blowing so much sunshine up your ass there if you can't see how hard it sucks working for WaMu. I transferred from a branch to a Home Loan Center. And I believe this HLC is the #1 producing in the company for 2008, and yet all but two of the people in my position are being laid off. Makes sense right? Wrong. Our CEO is a doofus and we've made some bad moves and instead of trying to fix the problem, we just keep laying people off so Mr. Killinger can keep his fat payroll and bonuses. What a joke. I can't wait to get out here and move on to something better. WaMu cares all right...about itself and protecting the people at the top. I would LOVE one of those shirts.

The nice things in life you

The nice things in life you can change such as a bank to do business with or a company to work for. If you don't like it then leave! Karma goes along ways, if they are wrong they will get there's but you all are in the wrong for saying things that don't help anyone not even yourselves.

I need that shirt! Can we

I need that shirt! Can we buy one?

Outsourcing

I was laid off from Wamu partly because my job was given to someone in a third world country who is required to be college educated yet makes ten cents a loan while Sir Kerry is living high off the hog. Imagine all the borrowers reaction if they knew their social security numbers and personal information is floating around willy-nilly overseas amongst people who are paid so poorly it wouldn't be out of the realm of possiblity to become disgruntled and abuse their position. It only takes one person.

Fired? Laid off?

Looking for anyone willing to share, especially those in the Seattle area. Send me an e-mail at lonstot@seattleweekly.com.
